FAQ

What is EDUlearn?

EDUlearn is an online study platform that offers virtual lessons that students can take from home or anywhere else with an internet connection. Our team of qualified teachers work remotely and we have a structured teaching program to follow. Some kids only follow some subjects or courses, while others are part of the daily study project called Academy. Edulearn follows homeschoolers and school-aged children from five to sixteen years old.

Is EDUlearn dedicated only to Homeschoolers?

EDUlearn is suitable for students and parents who want flexible or personalized learning.

EDUlearn can accommodate:

  • - Gifted students who find school lessons repetitive.
  • - Homeschoolers looking for structured learning.
  • - Children or young people who travel during the year and cannot attend a traditional school.
  • - Competitive sports students or those with professional training that require flexibility in learning times.
  • - Children or young people undergoing medical treatment who have difficulty attending mainstream school.
  • - Students who attend traditional schools, but who need more practice in some subjects or who simply want to experience another way of learning.
  • - Children or young people worried about safety in traditional school contexts (bullying, psychological and physical violence...).
  • - Students who are not satisfied with the conditions of traditional schools, such as high costs, poor quality of teachers, poor learning levels, etc.

How will I know my child is learning?

Grades, in traditional contexts, are decided based on how many correct answers a student provides on an oral or written test. EDUlearn teachers are interested in how students behave when they don't find a solution, how they interact in the group and how they cultivate soft skills. We don't give grades and we don't do tests. We are keen to improve the ways in which students produce knowledge, rather than how they simply reproduce it. We want students to learn to develop critical thinking also regarding their work and the reality around them. Our communication systems (dedicated app) ensure that parents can monitor the progress of the group on a daily basis.

Do you offer the possibility of paying the cost of your services in installments?

Yes, EDUlearn's payment plan allows families to make monthly payments after an initial down payment. There are no interest payments and the total annual amount must be paid by the end of March.

What kind of support does a virtual teacher provide to his students?

EDUlearn teachers are the content experts for their courses and support students through understanding the material, training soft skills, socializing and organizing study. They evaluate student progress through submitted Tasks and interact with students at each session.

How often will students interact with the teacher and other students?

The amount of interaction with EDUlearn teachers depends on which path you have chosen. The Academy courses are held every day from Monday to Friday, while other study subjects can be held once or twice a week. During these lessons all children and young people (the number per group can vary from 8 to 10 depending on age) will enter an online classroom using Zoom.

How do you ensure good student conduct?

The structured learning system, together with positive reinforcement from teachers, will help your children and teenagers to be polite and cooperative. Of course, to achieve this goal, we will need the support of you parents. Active learning and constant participation will ensure that students are well occupied with productive things, reducing deviant behaviors.

What technological requirements are needed to participate in the study sessions?

At a minimum, students need high-speed Internet access, a keyboard, and a computer or tablet, both with a working webcam and microphone. Scanner and printer also help, as sometimes you will have to print some material.

What technical skills do students need to take your online classes?

EDUlearn has been designed to be as intuitive as possible: intuitive controls, clear instructions and exercises reported on the App, guide students through new activities. However, students need basic computer skills to access and navigate these programs. These skills include: knowing how to use a keyboard and mouse; running certain computer programs; know how to send and receive emails/messages; understand basic Zoom commands. We recommend our 5,6,7 year old students to be accompanied by their parents on the journey.

How can we prevent technical difficulties during the course?

• Test all the equipment you will use for the online course (computer or tablet).

• Download the management app and create your profile.

• Check your Wi-Fi network speed before each lesson to avoid connection problems.

• Don't forget to test your computer/tablet's webcam and microphone to make sure they work.

What is the typical workload for one of your online courses?

The workload varies depending on the age of the student, but does not exceed two and a half hours per day, which includes lessons and preparation of the tasks.

What tasks/tasks do you require?

The type of Task can vary depending on the study subject. Some tasks can be: research, presentations, debates, creative work, historical identification, composition of lapbooks, all both individually and in groups.

How much time should parents dedicate to their children in supporting their learning?

It depends on each student, but a parent should expect their child to need help with study planning, lots of encouragement, and general supervision. Our dedicated App will allow you, among other things, to monitor attendance, delays and task deliveries. Stay in touch with class teachers and technical support, read the articles that will be shared, if you have any questions please expect a day or two to receive an answer.

Do EDUlearn courses have an attendance requirement?

EDUlearn courses do not have an attendance requirement, but to ensure that students actively participate in their learning, with positive results, it is necessary to participate in the sessions throughout the year.

Will I need to purchase books or materials for my courses?

The use of books is infrequent, much of the material shared will be online. In primary school, Italian, mathematics and English books will be recommended. If there are books to buy, the expense will not be huge. You may be asked to print some materials before the lesson from PDF. The basic material such as pens, paper, glue, pencils, colored markers, ruler, eraser etc. it is the responsibility of the family and must be available for every lesson.

What can I do to optimize our EDUlearn experience?

Throughout the year we will give you lots of advice on how to organize your study.

  • Encourage physical activity. Doing physical activity (independently and together with the whole family) is vital for health, well-being and willingness to learn. Set new fitness goals and plan hands-on activities that keep your hands busy, your feet moving, and your minds engaged. Even household chores offer the opportunity to train your body and responsibility, don't underestimate it!
  • Establish a routine with expectations.
  • It's important to develop good habits early on. Create a flexible routine and explain to your children how you will organize your time. Break your days into predictable segments. Help your children get up, get dressed and prepare for sessions with joy and motivation. Keep digital devices such as cell phones under control and do not allow them to be used during study sessions.
  • Choose a good place to learn.
  • Your family's normal learning space, occasional homework or games, may not function for long periods. Then create a physical place dedicated to EDUlearn activities. Make sure it is quiet, free of distractions and has a good internet connection. You parents, when necessary or possible, supervise online learning and don't forget to practice good digital safety.

What are some of the benefits of attending EDUlearn courses?

Online education is known for its flexibility, but studies have identified numerous additional benefits to taking online courses.

Between these:

  • Personalized Learning: Not all students learn the same way. Online learning allows teachers to deliver the same content using different media, such as videos or simulations, thus personalizing learning. Much of the study will be done individually and independently, allowing students to take advantage of the most suitable and profitable moments of the day for them.
  • Accessibility : Online programs transcend time and geographic barriers. This can be useful for those who have little time to study, or who live in remote areas.
  • Efficiency: Studies show that online students tend to achieve the same learning outcomes in half the time as in-class students.
  • Engagement: EDUlearn teachers can use games, social media, virtual badges, and other engaging technologies to motivate students and improve learning. Furthermore, thanks to group study sessions, they will be able to socialize and find new friends.

What happens if my child repeatedly disturbs sessions?

During our experience we have only had a couple of cases in which the lack of harmony, collaboration and discipline on the part of the children and families resulted in the impossibility for us to continue with the online sessions.

These were cases in which the children began the Homeschooling experience and also our paths, after a traumatizing period of school attendance. The kids in question therefore did not have the opportunity to "detoxify themselves from the system" and find their balance and maturity with respect to study and life in general, before starting the journey with us. All this led to intolerance, rejection and disturbance on their part, which created havoc and discomfort for the whole group.

As per protocol, we promptly activated a collaborative dialogue with the families in order to improve the relationship, but without obtaining an improvement.

When the disturbance becomes such that it prevents other students from following the sessions, we are forced to interrupt the individual service to the undisciplined student.

Since the behavior described is in disagreement with the EDUlearn Educational Pact, we applied the rules on withdrawals and payments, after 3 official attempts at improvement/recall exposed to the family.
